Calling all night owls! The Albany Area Amateur Astronomers will have telescopes to give you a tour of the night sky during this free program held at the Deerfield Pavilion. No preregistration required. Enter via main entrance and follow signs to program-- first left off main entrance road. Please drive slowly in the park at night. No charge.

Park Hiking Challenge: Little Johnny's

Are you up for the challenge? This month our Hiking Challenge Series will begin, where park educators and patrons will explore all the trails in the park. Our third hike will be the Little Johnny's Trail, which is ~4mil with 189ft of elevation gain. We will be meeting at the Welcome Center before departing. This program is free to attend but registration is required! Call 518-279-1155 to register & for any questions.

Invasive Plant Removal Project -GLSP

Join environmental educators to learn the impacts invasive plant species have on our local forests. You will learn how to identify and remove different species. These programs will involve being off trail and using different hand tools. Each field day begins at 9am and ends at noon, followed by an optional post-activity. Free admission into Grafton Lakes State Park is given day of volunteering. Please call 518-279-1155 or email graftonlakesvolunteers@parks.ny.gov to register. The best part of the project is you can choose which days and parks you'd like to volunteer! After signing up you will receive our 2026 schedule.

Enjoy a relaxing hour of Toddler Time at Grafton Lakes State Park. We will learn about Trees through exploration, art and storytime. This program will be completely outdoors and meets at our program tent at the beach. This program is intended for ages 2-6 and requires parental supervision at all times. August Full Moon (Sturgeon Moon) Hike

Come experience the park in the dark! Join us on August 28th for a guided hike under the Pink Moon. We'll be meeting at the Grafton Lakes Welcome Center at 7:30pm and departing soon afterwards. Flashlights will be provided, but please make sure to bring warm clothes and shoes for the mud! Registration is mandatory, as we have limited spots to available to ensure a safe and positive experience. Registration is for ages 12+ and is $5 per person, please call 518-279-1155 to register.
