After the sun goes down, moths dance through the moonlit skies. Saunter through the ethereal forests of Sunken Meadow and familiarize yourself with its many insect residents. An outdoor educator will guide your journey to teach you how to identify nighttime sounds and set up a "moth sheet" to invite these colorful insects to us. Refreshments will be provided. Come experience magical imagination and creative spirit with face painting provided by Thoroughly Modern Lilly! Whatever your child desires, our talented painters can create wonderful works of art and transform them into their favorite superheroes, princesses, magical creatures, animals and much more! The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, in partnership with the Natural Heritage Trust, is pleased to announce Hither Hills State Park's 2026 Children's Summer Entertainment schedule. A vehicle use fee may be in effect and participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. There are no rain dates for these performances. For further information call (631) 269-4333.
