Summer Stargazing with Barefoot Bob

Join us for an evening under the stars! Astronomy expert Bob Piekiel will bring his large telescopes to share views of the Milky Way and Venus. Bring blankets or chairs for some good old-fashioned stargazing. Between 8-9pm kids can do a free constellation craft as it gets dark. You may bring a flashlight to use in case of emergency; however, we want our eyes to adjust to the dark which means no lights allowed. Meet at the Reserve Shelter ball field. Free with park admission ($10 per car).

Secrets of the Lake Guided Hike

Join an educator on a guided hike around the lake to learn its secrets. Why is the lake green? How is it a rare lake? What unusual life lives in its depths? This is a two-mile walk on a flat crushed gravel trail. Usually takes between 1-1.5 hours. Guide presents info along the first ¼ mile. Simply enjoy the walk and view for the rest of the hike and ask the guide any questions you have. Meet at the Environmental Education Center located next to the first west beach parking lot. Hike is free to attend; park admission is $10.

Come out to learn the truth about these little animals through games, activities and maybe even seeing them fly through the night sky. Meet at the reserve shelter. Wear bug spray and dress in layers.
