Step back into a simpler time and play like it's 1750! Try your hand at colonial games like ninepins, make your own whirligigs and clay marbles, or play historic games like hoop and stick, stilts, cornhole, and bubbles. Philipse Manor Hall staff will be there to join in the fun with historical games. There will also be a special drumming workshop with Sankofa Drumming. Join us as we explore Yonkers' historic downtown area, including the daylighted Saw Mill River, Yonkers Train Station, Yonkers Recreation Pier, the Enslaved African Rain Garden, and more. We'll cover Yonkers' history from its early Indigenous origins to the present, with emphasis on the 18th and 19th centuries. If you've ever wondered how and why Yonkers developed, and what the downtown used to look like, this is the tour for you! Tickets include museum admission. Summer Historical Games Series

Join us outdoors (weather-permitting) for family programs at Philipse Manor Hall on Wednesdays August 5 & 19! Learn how people of the past entertained themselves tabletop games like mancala, shut the box, captain's mistress, nine man's morris, skittles, and more, plus hand-eye coordination games like quoits, cup and ball, jacob's ladder, and outdoor-only games like graces, hoop and stick, battledore and shuttlecock, and more. This program is free and open to the public, no registration required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Revolutionary Harvest Fest & Yonkers RiverFest

Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site
Step back in time to the American Revolution! This free family-friendly outdoor festival will feature costumed reenactors, living history demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Meet military and civilian reenactors including General George Washington (on his horse Nelson) Revolutionary War soldiers from both sides of the conflict, including Black Patriots and Loyalists, Indigenous allies, 18th century crafts demonstrators, and more. Enjoy live music and try your hand at 18th century country dancing, grinding grain in a portable stone mill, operating a cider press, and playing 18th century-style children's games. Explore the history of Philipse Manor Hall and colonial New York in the museum. History buffs of all ages can also enjoy our special espionage activity, as you explore the grounds and meet historical people and booths of local history organizations to decipher your mission, using our special code book! This festival coincides with Yonkers RiverFest, which features live music, vendors, and food throughout the downtown Yonkers area. Learn more at philipsemanorhall.com.

Declaring Dependence: Loyalists in Revolutionary New York Symposium

As we mark the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site and Johnson Hall State Historic Site are partnering to highlight the experiences of Loyalists of all backgrounds in New York throughout the war. They will host a public symposium, "Declaring Dependence: Loyalist in Revolutionary New York" on November 14-15, 2026 at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site (29 Warburton Ave.) in Yonkers, NY. The symposium will take place in-person and will also be broadcast online. Proposals accepted until July 6, 2026. Learn more at philipsemanorhall.com.
