Come experience this wonderful exploration into spelean adventure, following a meeting of the Friends of Schoharie Crossing. The meeting starts at 6pm, program at 6:30pm and we'll welcome Robert Addis offering, "I've Never Let Fear or Common Sense Hold Me Back -- 65 Years of Spelean Adventure, Some Accomplishments, and Lots of Mischief!" Cosby Gibson & Tom Staudle offer up their amazing Traditional Folk Songs program. Cosby Gibson and Tom Staudle are award-winning songwriters and singers and live near the Adirondacks in upstate New York. As a duo, they have been performing for nearly twenty years, and tour both regionally and nationally. Together they play originals and favorites with a variety of instruments such as guitar, fiddle, banjo, dulcimer, and harmonica, and in many settings such as festivals, concert series, theaters, livestreams, and community events. Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site
We'll take a tour of the Erie Canal along the towpaths at Schoharie Crossing. This free tour will meander along the historic "Clinton's Ditch" before crossing footbridges at Empire Lock and the Enlarged (second version) of the canal before we return to overlook the remnants of the Schoharie Creek Aqueduct and then return to the Visitor Center. This mile loop will cover uneven grassy pathways. Proper footwear and clothing are recommended. Free and open to the public. Well behaved and leashed dogs (no more than 6' leash) are allowed. Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site
In 1710, four Mohawk and Mohican dignitaries travelled to London to meet with Queen Anne, a meeting that would eventually lead to the establishment of Fort Hunter. This program explores English-Native American alliances in early 18th century New York, and the motives behind their mutual cooperation. Loretta Tucker, staff at Schoharie Crossing, will provide this program following a brief Friends of Schoharie Crossing Meeting. This is free and open to the public. Contact the site for more details.
